Interior peaks, score and payout

Peak Relief is this independent demo, not an external operator game. Three independent rows each contain five independent uniform heights 0–3. Only the three interior positions can be peaks. A height contributes only when it exceeds both neighbors strictly; its contribution is its height minus the taller neighbor. Add all contributions for the row score. Endpoints and equal-height plateaus do not contribute.

Before play choose square-root, identity or square weighting of positive scores; zero remains zero. Each row uses one third of the total stake. Its gross multiplier is 0.96 times its transformed score divided by the exact mean weight of the 1,024 equally likely row patterns. Add the three row returns. A raw score is not itself a coin payout; the displayed return includes the stake, not net profit. Fractional credits carry forward.

For example, 0, 3, 1, 2, 0 has two strict interior peaks. Height 3 contributes 3 − max(0,1) = 2; height 2 contributes 2 − max(1,0) = 1. The raw row score is 3. The endpoints do not count. In contrast, 0, 1, 2, 3, 3 has no strict interior peak because the height-3 plateau is equal, so it scores zero.

Exact 96% expectation

Exact enumeration of 1,024 row patterns gives score counts: 0→422, 1→348, 2→175, 3→60, 4→14, 5→4 and 6→1. Every weighting has exactly 96% expected gross return. The chance of a positive row score is 602/1,024 in all three modes: weighting changes amounts, not this probability. A short session can differ substantially from the expectation. Earlier results do not change a new independent draw.

Finite persisted virtual wallet

The wallet begins at 1,000 virtual coins. Balance and fractional credits persist in browser localStorage across reloads. When the balance is below the smallest stake, free refill sets it to 1,000; it does not add 1,000. Clearing this site’s storage resets local progress, while clearing cached files alone need not do so. Virtual coins cannot be purchased, withdrawn or converted to cash.

Practical time limits

Choose a time limit and take breaks. Increasing the stake after losses cannot improve the expected return. Auto and Stop are practical demo controls, not a guarantee that playing habits are under control. External deposit limits or self-exclusion facilities have not been verified.
